AU/OC History:
This is based on a canon AU episode of Adventure Time in which every character was of the opposite gender, but disregards the reasoning behind it (that being the whole 'it was Ice King's fanfic' thing).This means that every character would act and think differently. For example, in Still the Ice Queen froze Fionna and Cake to keep them from foiling her newest plan to marry Prince Gumball instead of to force them to be her friends. This means that Fionna actually has something at stake and has to cure the spell before time runs out rather than Finn suffering wacky hijinks caused by the Ice King.
She's less hot-headed than Finn, so most of the time she thinks before jumping into a fight, but there are some exceptions (see Personality). Another reason she has to rely on strategy is that the Ice Queen is shown to be far more competant than the Ice King and that brute force isn't always the solution with her. The only adventures that would turn out almost exactly the same would be the major ones, such as the fights against The Lich in Mortal Folly and Mortal Recoil. Another difference between Fionna and Finn is that she's more in touch with her emotional side. Her crush on Prince Gumball is a little more obvious and she's more open to talking about her feelings with Cake. She's also been confirmed to be a little older than Finn, meaning she's a little more mature than him. Her maturity means that she can't exactly see the world in black and white like he can.
Before arriving in Darstone, Fionna had her feelings manipulated by Ice Queen. She had disguised herself as Prince Gumball in order to throw Fionna for a loop with a sudden courtship. She even tricked her into using a trap sword that would imprison her hands on command. It was effective, but she was ultimately defeated as usual. Fionna even decided that she didn't necessarily need a boyfriend, though she still has a crush on Gumball.
Personality:
Fionna is probably the most adventurous and fun-seeking person you could ever meet. No matter what she's doing, be it saving Prince Gumball or simply helping a giant snail find a girlfriend, she does it all because she's a heroine. It's what she does. Her strong sense of responsibility and devotion to justice seems to stem from the fact that she was abandoned as a baby and raised by cats. Even now, whenever a parental figure seemingly abandons their child (such as in The Jiggler) she always becomes enraged. That's why she was originally so adament about Marshall Lee making up with his mother. It also seems to make her almost physically incapable of any evil or unjust actions.
Despite loving adventure, Fionna never purposefully throws herself in danger. The only reason she would ever charge ahead without thinking was if one of her closest friends was in danger, most likely Cake, Prince Gumball or Marshall Lee. Most of the time she tries to think of a strategic way to take down her enemy, particularly if they've proven to be hard to defeat. She can, however, be very stubborn and unwilling to let go of a fight once one's been started. She can get overly angry and emotional at times, but tries to keep herself in check and always apologizes when things get out of hand.
She may be courageous, but Fionna also has fears and insecurities. She has a strong fear of oceans, despite the fact that she can easily come into contact with any other body of water. She also fears the return of The Lich, making her the only enemy she's truly afraid of. She isn't very open with her more private emotions with anyone besides Cake. She sometimes fears that people would consider her "too young" or "just a girl" despite constantly proving them wrong with her many escapades. She also has insecurities concerning her tomboyish nature when it comes to Prince Gumball. She worries that he'll only ever see her as one of the guys. The one time he really seemed to be romantically interested in her turned out to be a trap, but it did help her come to terms with the fact that she had never needed a boyfriend to be happy and didn't need one just yet.

Literally every single person she's ever met has either been an animal or a humanoid creature, but she's never met any actual humans. Really, that's what's most important to her. She doesn't want her friends to worry about her.
